Suzanne Atwood, Associate Director

Suzanne Fleming-Atwood has a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from the Catholic University of America.  From 2011-2024,  she taught at Christ Our King-Stella Maris School where she built a thriving music program that includes an award winning treble choir, Harmonia, grade level Middle School choral classes and general music in Grades 1-8.   She is the Youth Choir conductor at Christ Our King Church, where she and her husband,Scott Atwood, co-direct 3 youth ensembles. In addition to these duties, she is a Children’s Choir coordinator for Spoleto Festival USA and serves as the Elementary Repertory and Resource Chair for the South Carolina American Choral Directors Association.  For 8 years, Mrs. Atwood served as an adjunct voice faculty-member at the College of Charleston, where she also taught Music Theory Lab and Phonetics for Singers. An active performer in the Charleston area, Ms. Fleming-Atwood has performed with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, the North Charleston Pops, Charleston Bach Festival, Chamber Music Charleston and the Sound of Charleston. Mrs. Atwood is a sought after voice teacher and choral clinician. Her students are selected for State, Regional and National Honor Choirs each year; former students are professional performers and have been awarded scholarships and admission at such schools as the University of South Carolina, Furman University,  the College of Charleston, Westminster Choir College and Clemson University.  She resides in Charleston with her husband Scott and their children, Ben and Maria.
